Sir Keith Pearson JP opens new Aseptic & Radiopharmacy unit
NEWS – 21 March 2011: Sir Keith Pearson JP, Chair Of The NHS Confederation Opens The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s (QEH) New Aseptic & Radiopharmacy Unit.
The project to build a new start of the art Aseptic & Radiopharmacy Unit was managed on behalf of QEH by Zebrazoo Consulting’s lead consultant Sean Mullineux. An Aseptic Unit comprises a number of ultra sterile rooms which house isolators in which certain drugs e.g. chemotherapy drugs and parenteral nutrion can be manufactured.

As entering the Aseptic Unit ungowned would compromise the unit’s sterile environment Sir Keith Pearson is shown a video compiled by the project team walking him through the layout of the unit and how it is used to manufacture specific drugs.
